Seven BNY Mellon employees visited the Island Bridge homeless shelter of the Dublin Simon Community recently for a full day’s renovation work as part of the Room to Improve Initiative.

Armed with paint brushes, paint and heavy duty cleaning materials, employees took on the task of transforming the accommodation. Paint supplies and cleaning materials, along with new bed side lockers and chairs were funded by BNY Mellon.

Island House is a Simon Community shelter that is situated in Ushers Quay. It is a night only service which focuses on providing accommodation and care for people that would otherwise be sleeping out of doors. The service has eight bedrooms and currently has 21 people accessing the service each night.

BNY Mellon has worked with the Dublin Simon Community for the past four years providing staff volunteers and financial assistance on a regular basis.
