The Old Jameson Distillery
LOOKING FOR A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE ?
A visit to The Old Jameson Distillery is a must see for any visitor to the capital!
Founded in Smithfield in 1780 by John Jameson, although whiskey is no longer produced here , The Old Jameson Distillery has been redeveloped as a fantastic visitor centre. The Distillery now welcomes over 250,000 visitors each year, making the centre not just a tour site, but also a fascinating and engaging experience rich in Irish heritage, making it one of Irelands' finest visitor attractions.
The Old Jameson Distillery experience starts off with a guided tour of the visitor centre which will take you back in time to learn exactly how John Jameson created his world reknowned " Uisce Beatha" from just three ingredients : water, barley and yeast.
Highlights of the tour include an audio-visual presentation, followed by a walk through the recreated distillery scene and culminating in the Jameson Discovery Bar. This marks the end of the tour where each guest receives a complimentary glass of Jameson and a chance to become a "Qualified Irish Whiskey Taster".
If you think you can tell your scotch from your bourbon be sure to put up your hand when the tour guide asks for volunteers, as you will be tested to see if you can tell the difference between Jameson Irish, Scotch and American whiskey in a fun comparison taste test.
