The Insurance Institute of Ireland

The Insurance Institute of Ireland (III) is the professional body responsible for maintaining and developing educational standards, on behalf of our 15,000 active members, working in the Irish insurance sector.

We deliver internationally recognised professional courses and qualifications, while also supporting a comprehensive CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training programme. Founded in 1885, we are a membership, education and training organisation headquartered on Molesworth Street, Dublin 2, with local institutes in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Sligo.

III Qualifications: in your own time, at your own pace

Insurance qualifications have undergone considerable change over the last number of years with the introduction of the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness & Probity Standards and Minimum Competency Code 2011. Professionals now have more choice than ever for developing their technical skills and competencies.

III qualifications are modular, meaning our members can take things at their own pace never biting off more than they can chew. The entry level qualification, Professional Certificate in Insurance (APA) is available in the following three product areas: personal, commercial and private medical insurance.

The Professional Certificate in Insurance (APA) leads on to the Professional Diploma in Insurance (CIP) and then on to the new Management Diploma in Insurance (MDI).

Both the Professional Certificate in Insurance (APA) and Professional Diploma in Insurance (CIP) are academic qualifications at level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications within The Institute of Bankers in Ireland School of Professional Finance and are awarded by University College Dublin.
