Why should I attend the NCI Open Day?

Well we’re glad you asked. Attending an open day is one of the best ways to get a feel for a college, its courses and the general atmosphere on campus. We like to think NCI is a pretty happy place, but come and get a feel of it for yourself, before you fill out your CAO form.
Karen Campbell, NCI’s School Liaison Officer, explains: “Attending an open day is one of the best ways to get a feel for a college, its courses and the general atmosphere on campus.
One of the things that people always comment on is the great buzz around the place,” she says. “Because we’re a smaller college, you won’t feel lost in the crowd; there is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and it’s easy to find your feet.Read our blog post for the 5 top reasons to attend a college open day!

What can I expect from the NCI Open Day?

With taster classes, course stands, and competitions throughout the day, the event promises to be not only educational, but also a whole lot of fun. The gang from Spin 1038 will be on campus to help create a buzzing atmosphere and there will be music, craic and games a-plenty. NCI is one of the few educational institutes to offer guaranteed accommodation to first-year students, and the open day offers the chance to tour the on-campus student apartments.

Most importantly, though, you can find out about our full-time courses in business, computing, psychology, marketing, HR, accounting and more. Chat to lecturers and staff, meet the students’ union team, learn about clubs and societies on campus - and find out why our graduates consistently top the charts in terms of employment attainment, compared with other third-level institutions in Ireland.

Talks and topics at the NCI Open Day

You will have the chance to sit in on an exciting range of 20 minute talks on areas that you might cover on your course at NCI. Interested in technology? You might like to drop into our talk on “The Smart Home – How the internet of things will impact the way we live”. Can your fridge really order you a pizza on your way home from work? If social media grabs your fancy, one of our experts will talk you through “How to use Twitter and Social Media for Business Intelligence”.
Maybe the world of psychology is your thing? You can attend talks on how the mind plays tricks on you and also on psychopaths in the world. If the world of high finance is calling your name, come along to our talk on “Working on Wall Street” or, if you loved Mad Men, why not drop into a seminar on the world of advertising and consumer behaviour?

How can I find the NCI Open Day?

The college couldn’t be easier to get to: it’s just round the corner from Connolly Station, and has its own LUAS stop right on the doorstep. Come along at any time between 10am-3pm – let us know you’ll be there and what you think of the day, with the hashtag #NCIOpenDay.
