Law firm wins volunteering accolade at Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2014

A&L Goodbody has won the Excellence in Community - Volunteering Award in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the 2014 Chambers Ireland CSR Awards. The Firm was recognised for the high level of engagement of its people in its "Step Up" Community Programme. The programme partners with organisations to support those most in need in their communities through education, enterprise, pro bono legal support and fundraising.

In the past year, A&L Goodbody employees contributed over 5,800 volunteer hours through their pro bono legal advice and involvement in a range of community programmes. These included working with: Suas Educational Development, to improve the declining levels of literacy among young people in Ireland; the firm's Pro Bono programme, where employees volunteer their legal expertise to community and voluntary organisations; and fundraising and volunteering for The Calcutta Run, an annual event that raises funds for GOAL and the Peter McVerry Trust.

Commenting on the award win, Julian Yarr, Managing Partner of A&L Goodbody said, “Corporate Responsibility is central to the culture and strategy at A&L Goodbody. Our people are keen to have a positive impact on society and our "Step Up" programme enables them to do just that. Over 62% of them have volunteered for one or more of our initiatives. I am delighted that their contribution has been recognised with this award."
