A&L Goodbody involved in one of Ireland's first virtual and paperless hearings in the Irish Courts.

A milestone has been reached in the Irish Courts. The A&L Goodbody Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, led by Kenan Furlong were involved in one of Ireland's first virtual and paperless hearings in the Irish Courts as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

All those involved in the hearing were kept safe by dialing in from separate locations.

The hearing was conducted using their eBrief technology. This enabled them to develop electronic briefs efficiently which were then used by their legal team, the judges and the other party during the appeal.
This saved the printing of over 18,000 pages – the equivalent of a whole tree!

The feedback received from all parties involved leads them to believe that virtual hearings can be utilised successfully.
They are hopeful that the successful use of eBriefs will help virtual hearings become commonplace even after COVID-19.

Thay have put together a short video summarising our first virtual hearing experience, which can be viewed here.
