Corporate Governance in Practice

Learn the roles and responsibilities of being a director in our one-day workshop 'Corporate Governance in Practice'. 

Whether you're new to the boardroom or looking to strengthen your governance acumen, our dedicated workshop will give you the practical tools and insights to navigate today's complex governance landscape. Led by experienced Chair, Non-Executive Director and former Secretary General, Jim Breslin. The workshop will take place at the Irish Management Institute (IMI), Sandyford Road, Sandyford, Dublin 16.

On completion of this workshop, participants will learn:

  • Core tenets of corporate governance, including Company Law, and the duties and responsibilities of the Chair and directors.  
  • Fundamental principles of governance across various organisational contexts.
  • How to critically evaluate governance infrastructure in an organisation.  
  • And how to evaluate their own role within a governance structure. 
  • Gain 6 hours of CPD.

Eligible hours: 6 hours of Chartered Director CPD

This session may be eligible for other professional body CPD.Check with your relevant professional body.

Workshop participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the session.

To fully embrace participants’ experience and to encourage the sharing of this experience and knowledge by and with other participants, Karen Morton CDir will lead dynamic, interactive sessions, drawing on his own and participants’ experiences. She will integrate practical examples into the workshop and support participants in identifying key take-aways / action points.

Cancellation and refund policy

Places are confirmed upon full payment. Cancellations with a full refund are accepted in writing to cpd@iodireland.ie until Thursday, 5th November 2026. After this date, no refunds are possible, and all fees are forfeited for cancellations or non-attendance. Recordings will not be available as part of post-session materials.
