Leading international financial services law firm Walkers is pleased to announce the promotions of Damien Barnaville (Asset Management & Investment Funds) and Shane Martin (Regulatory) to the Walkers partnership in its Ireland office, effective from 1 July 2022.
Damien further strengthens the partner bench in the firm's leading Asset Management & Investment Funds practice and has over 15 years' experience as a solicitor, previously as EU Legal Director for a US broker dealer and as a partner in another law firm, before joining Walkers in 2020.
Shane is a recognised regulatory expert and has been with Walkers since 2014, having previously worked in the Enforcement Department of the Central Bank of Ireland and for the Irish Banking Federation. His promotion to partner is a reflection of the strength and growth of the Walkers' Regulatory practice across Ireland and our global offices.
Both Damien and Shane are recognised by Legal 500 for the quality of their work.
Jonathan Sheehan, the managing partner of Walkers' Ireland office, said: "We are committed to recognising and developing the enormous talent within our firm, and Damien and Shane are outstanding lawyers who have made a real contribution to the continuing growth and success of their respective practice groups.
"Their experience outside of private practice – Damien in an in-house role, and Shane with the CBI – enables them to add deep value to clients and we look forward to the continuing impact that they will have on their teams in their new leadership roles."
The 26 new partners across Walkers' global offices marks the firm's largest ever round of additions to the partnership. Walkers is a leading international law firm practising Cayman, BVI, Bermuda, Jersey, Guernsey and Irish law across a global network of offices that includes London, Dublin, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
