Debugging the myths around managed services

When it comes to corporate mythology, Managed Services has a mixed reputation. Any service industry will have its heroes and its monsters.

The key to choosing the right provider often comes down to knowing what potential misconceptions might be tarring all companies with the same brush.

Myth 1 : The Business benefits of Managed Services cannot be effectively measured

When it comes to IT service providers, companies may be concerned about lack of performance or ineffectiveness being difficult to diagnose. The truth of the matter is performance metrics are easily measured and can be presented in a simple and meaningful way. We recognize that it’s important to prove the effectiveness of the systems we implement and support.

There are effectively two types of data that we gather for support. We gather data on the issues that we solve and flag support issues that keep re-occurring. From this data we can identify effective workflows and their business benefits - as well as making judgements on how best to tackle bottlenecks. In the case of the latter we may discover that a part of a system that keeps failing is costing your company a small fortune and we are on hand to help you with necessary upgrades and maintenance with minimal-to-no business disruption.

We also offer quarterly business reviews that tie in to your business goals. In addition to that, Trilogy monitoring and management tools provide a 24/7 view into the health of your infrastructure so that we can react to issues at a moment’s notice or alert the technical talent in your company to the issues that arise.

Myth 2 : Managed Services Providers operate in a Silo

Once again poor service is distinguished from ‘Managed services done right’. Having responsibilities divided across two entities should not distract from overall business objectives and a Managed Services Provider who will act as an extension of your IT department.

Trilogy Technologies does not let its specialization in virtualization and IT infrastructures supersede equally important strategic considerations. Your IT Team can rest assured that they also have the full support of Trilogy when they need it, during a busy period or in the event of an unanticipated disaster.

By forging a strong strategic partnership based on transparent communication and accountability as a result of our stringent SLA’s, you are kept in the loop in Trilogy, not the apparent silo the myth would have you believe.

Myth 3 : Only big companies can afford a managed services provider.

Best practice IT does not need to cost an arm and a leg. In fact harnessing technology is a way of ensuring that smaller workforces can work within more efficient margins with regards to their own service delivery. In addition to that many small companies cannot afford the risk of reputation & revenue damage caused by downtime or security breaches.
