Large fire at Georges Dock brought under control - Luas Red Line suspended for at least the next seven days

Dublin Fire Brigade deployed three fire engines to George’s Dock, where firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

“Firefighters are using 70mm hose to control the fire and cool adjacent exposures,” the brigade confirmed on social media.

Luas Red Line services between Connolly and The Point have been suspended following the fire, In a statement, Luas confirmed services will remain suspended “for the next week” while assessments are carried out on potential fire damage and until clearance is given regarding George’s Dock Bridge.

Gas Networks Ireland also attended the scene. In a statement, GNI said:

“A Gas Networks Ireland crew is on site assisting fire services at an incident in the IFSC in Dublin 1. It is not yet known at this stage whether the cause of the fire is gas-related.”

No further details have been released at this time.
