  • the delivery of the European Financial Forum
  • the development of the educational consumer resources to support consumers to engage with fintech
  • the establishment of Ireland as an EU hub for insurtech

Commenting on the publication of the Progress Report 2022, Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance, Dr Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, said:

“Last year was a busy year for the international financial services strategy with the Update to Ireland for Finance launched last October. Good progress was made on the 2022 actions. My focus is now on delivering further on the agreed outputs for 2023 as part of the Ireland for Finance Action Plan 2023 as well as focusing on identifying the key areas where both the public and private sector can work together so as to make further progress in deepening the international financial services footprint within the Irish economy for the year ahead.”

About the Ireland for Finance strategy

In April 2019, the Government of Ireland launched Ireland for Finance, its whole-of-government strategy for the further development of the international financial services sector in Ireland. The vision of the Strategy is for Ireland to be a top-tier location of choice for specialist international financial services. The strategy was updated in October 2022 to take account of developments that had occurred since it was launched in 2019, particularly in sustainable finance and in digital finance and fintech. The strategy has five themes: sustainable finance; fintech and digital finance; diversity and talent; regionalisation and promotion; and operating environment. It is implemented through annual action plans and the quarterly meetings of the Ireland for Finance Joint Committee
