The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) has made six appointments to the Investment Committee established to oversee the Future Ireland Fund and the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund, the two sovereign funds established by the Government earlier this year.

The Committee includes two NTMA Agency members and four external members with specialist investment and corporate governance expertise from across the globe.

John S. Daly and Gerardine Jones, both Agency members, have been appointed to the Committee, with Mr Daly appointed as Committee chairperson.

The four external appointees are:

  • Matt Whineray, former Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer at the New Zealand Super Fund, New Zealand’s sovereign wealth fund;
  • Anne Gram, an Investment Committee and board member at ABP (a Dutch state pension fund) and ATP (a Danish state pension fund);
  • Knut Kjaer, a former CEO of Norges Investment Bank Investment Management, which oversees Norway’s sovereign wealth fund; and
  • Deborah Reidy, former director of investment consulting at Aon Hewitt; former head of investment manager selection at the National Pensions Reserve Fund; and a former investment consulting partner at Mercer.

Frank O’Connor, the NTMA Chief Executive, said:

“These appointments are a significant step forward in the establishment of the Future Ireland Funds.

They will bring highly valuable expertise in global markets to the new Investment Committee and will play an important role in the development and implementation of the long-term investment strategies for each fund.  This will be particularly important for the Future Ireland Fund as we look to 2041 and beyond”.
