Pillo Hotel Ashbourne Appoints Jonas Treffers as General Manager

Former Aloft Dublin City General Manager to lead hotel through refurbishment, brand transition and next phase of growth

Pillo Hotel Ashbourne has appointed Jonas Treffers as General Manager, as the hotel enters an important new chapter in its development.

Jonas joined the property in February 2026 and is leading the hotel through a significant refurbishment programme and its planned transition to the DoubleTree by Hilton brand. The project marks a major investment in the property and will see the hotel repositioned within the four star market, with a renewed focus on guest experience, commercial performance and operational consistency.

Well known to many across the Irish hospitality sector, Jonas brings more than two decades of senior hotel leadership experience to the role. He joins Pillo Hotel Ashbourne following six years as General Manager of Aloft Dublin City, where he led the hotel through its post-opening growth, the challenges of the pandemic, a major refurbishment, and the continued development of a strong people and service culture.

During his time at Aloft Dublin City, the hotel achieved strong guest satisfaction results, industry recognition, sustainability progress and Marriott International accolades. Jonas was also involved in technology-led operational improvements, including the practical use of AI and systems designed to support both service delivery and team efficiency.

Jonas has worked across a wide variety of hotels and hospitality environments, including The Clarence Hotel, Village at Lyons and the O’Callaghan Collection, holding a range of senior leadership roles, including General Manager positions. His wider background includes senior operational roles across hotels, food and beverage, events, and luxury and exclusive hospitality environments across Ireland, the UK and the Caribbean.

Jonas also served as Chairman of the Irish Hotels Federation Dublin Branch from 2023 to 2025, representing hoteliers at regional level and supporting collaboration across the wider hotel community.

Speaking about his appointment, Jonas Treffers said:

“Pillo Hotel Ashbourne is at a very exciting point in its journey. The hotel has a strong local reputation, a committed team, and a real opportunity to move into its next phase with the support and standards of an internationally recognised brand.

For me, this is about bringing together three things, clear commercial focus, operational discipline and a people culture that allows the team to perform with confidence. The refurbishment and brand transition give us a fantastic platform, but the real success will come from how we bring the team, the guest experience and the business performance together.”

Jonas is known for a leadership style that combines commercial focus with a strong emphasis on people, culture and operational clarity. His appointment reflects Pillo Hotel Ashbourne’s ambition to strengthen its position in the market as it prepares for its next phase under an international brand.
